We are changing that
We run career days and give career talks at schools based in East London
Here are some extracts from the feedback we have recieved from the pupils at our events: "I learnt success comes from failure" another pupil was encouraged that "I know what to do when I'm older, it has given me courage."
We have started a university mentoring scheme with Year 10 pupils at East London Science School to help pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds aspire to attend Russell Group universities. We are working with students at UCL’s African and Caribbean Society in order to encourage young people from ethnic minorities to aspire to attend Russell Group universities as they are grossly underrepresented at Russell Group universities.
Each month, the students come to UCL and are given talks in small groups on different aspects of applying for, and studying at universities.
Whilst young people might want to attend a good university or get a great job, they might not have access to relevant skills and knowledge to fulfill their full potential. That's where our Skills Workshops come in. Using data on the top 10 skills valued by London employers, we prepare pupils for the workplace through presentations skills workshops and interview preparation.
